Vanilla is the second most costly edible in the world, right behind saffron.
I think it’s a great idea … just not for around north Florida. It got me thinking that maybe I should be growing it myself, and maybe even selling it the neighbors. This past holiday season, with all the baking and beverages, my household went through a lot of vanilla extract! And when I went hunting for a vanilla bean, I was shocked by the cost.
